Scopus is on Route B going north out of Marble Hill halfway between Hiway 34 and 72
Or in civil war times
Taking the road west out of Jackson Missouri towards Dallas right before you got to Dallas you would hang a right and go north eventually reaching the road that ran from Jackson MO to Fredericktown. This area of course was prime stomping grounds for all sorts of activity as this road led to Sedgewickville and the mills in that neighborhood. Sam H. would certainly have gone through the area a number of times as well as Pete Smith and the Bolin boys. Smith's sister lived at Sedgwickville for a while during the war. Its all a part of the Little Whitewater watershed. (which of course is the upper reaches of the Little River or the main waterway to Chalk Bluff at the time) Names of Scopus area residents include Welker, Edinger, Limbaugh, Kinder at the time of the war.
