The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Incident at Sink Pole Woods

Dear Mr. Kay,

I take it from a message left by Bruce Nichols that you have a lot of knowledge about the Civil War in Moniteau County. I have a great-great grandfather, Henry Germinden (or possibly von Geminden) from Moniteau County who was said to have taken part in the Civil War on the Union side. He would have been 21 when war broke out and was probably living in Cedron or Prairie Home. He was either a first- or second-generation German immigrant. Would you have any information about the unit or units he likely would have served in? Their is no information about him in the adjutant general's database of Civil War soldiers on the Secretary of State's Web sit.

Any information you could provide would be much appreciated.

George Williams
