Woodson's Company was formed from exchanged prisoners from Missouri in July 1863 at Richmond VA when Charles Woodson and Edward Scott were granted permission by then Confederate Sec'y of War James Seddon to raise a unit. See McGhee, Jim; "Guide to Missouri Confederate Units"; University of Arkansas Press, pg 164.
He appears to have married William Cubbage's sister. William having served in the VA 62nd Mntd Infantry when Woodson's Company was attached to the 62nd. Both units serving with distinction at Battle of New Market May 1864.
The Cubbage family was large and well known in the Shenendoah valley, William and his brother Daniel both served in Ninety-seventh Militia (Col. Mann Spitler's Militia; Second Regiment; Seventh Brigade, Militia) early in the war enlisting in 1861 for 3 years.
Ardelia Mae (b 29 April 1888, d 20 February 1937) married William Martin Pearson (b 22 August 1885. d 24 February 1962). Mr. Pearson's year of birth is a bit confusing as on the 1900 census it is clearly marked 1883 as it is in 1920 and 1930. However his WW I draft card lists it as 1861, he was working as a hostler for the Southern Railway Co in Manassas at the time and his WWII draft registration has him born in 1885 working in Washington DC.
If you'll send me an email I can forward some source info and a more complete family tree. jrussell@clas.net
