I will concur with you Bruce that Thrakill was at 2nd Newtonia on 28 October 1864, most of those rebel organizations were with Price. I will wager that the guerrilla organizations absorbed into his command were kept close to Price. As to October 6, 1862 I know of no skirmish near Newtonia at the time, there was the fight there on 30 September which was lengthy one, and another on October 4 that was nothing more than a skirmish with the pickets, though I know that Shelby's Brigade sustained a few casualties. After the 4th I know of several small skirmishes with guerrillas outside the town up through November 10th which included the surrounding area of Neosho. A number of returns I have read of the IHG and the MSM indicate that there were a consistent number of picket fights and patrol actions that were nothing more than an exchange of fire. But if Thrakill and or any of Waties or Coffee's men were involved during this period is unclear though it would follow that they were along with Tom Livingston. I should also point out that on the day of the First Battle of Newtonia Coffee's regiment, the Southwest Missouri, also known as the 3rd regiment of Shelby's Brigade (later designation being the 6th) was then being organized as a regiment. Officers on that day were being elected. Apparently when Coffee didn't get a regular commission a number of his men returned to Missouri during this period.
