I concur, I was pulling whatever I could find on possible fits from the right moment in local histories. Of course we have to remember that the war did not end peacefully in that corner of Missouri and Arkansas in 1865. Thus with both a church and the post office associated with A. G. Gregg closing in 1866, I was willing to open the window to a death date as late as 1865-66.

Obviously the Gregg family carried a lot of weight in the area at the time and it was a mixed family as it related to sympathies, North or South.
