J&D and Kirby,

Oops! I forgot to answer the second part of J&D's question about what the 1870 census showed for these two Pike County McCoy families. The answer is "nothing." Neither of them appeared in Pike County, IL in the 1870 census. Considering how often they moved before the war, we should not be surprised to see they moved on again. The only McCoy in Pike County in 1870 is an Asa McCoy family from Ohio that was not in the county in the 1860 census.
