In his order from Head Quarters Trans Miss District, dated June 13, 1862, in paragraph III. General Hindman authorizes a Colonel Warren Lewis to raise a mounted battalion or regiment in Western Missouri and eastern Kansas. I have looked at the 'List of Filed officers, regiments and battalions in Confederate service,' published in 1980 by the US Printing office, Washington, and do not find a listing at all on this man, nor do I see him mentioned in the Trans-Miss Order book. A little help is needed with this one.
