Thanks for helping to clarify the situation behind the burning of Dallas.

A follow up comment on this old thread regarding Albert Jackson and Nathanial Watkins.

Do you suppose that Albert Jackson held some animosity toward General Watkins dating back to Judge Jackson's 1858 impeachment trial?

Although Jackson was acquitted, Nathanial Watkins was among the 12 state senators who voted to convict him.

By my count, Watkins voted guilty on 11 of the 18 Articles (I, III, IV, VII, X, XI, XIII, XVI, XVII, XVIII - Henderson 1859:459-464)

Since Jackson defended himself -they must have had considerable interaction in the courtroom during that trial.
