I guess you, and the readership, are familiar that the Union Military stones are online for certain time frames. Go to familysearch.org, click on United States and scroll nearly to the bottom of the page. Of course your soldier is not on this list. I have done much work with the GAR Posts in St. Francois Co., Missouri (Post 215) and Ste. Genevieve Co. (Post 326), but have never seen where the GAR Post members obtained a Military stone for a member. It surely could occur. I did see the above mentioned Post 215 Minutes 1887-ca. 1929, conducted serious research on all the comrades from all over the Union States with a book in print without observing such an instance.
