I was just searching the 1883 Pensioners Roll when I saw your post. Guess you have also been to findagrave.com as well. I reckon if anyone (relative or friend) who tried to get a standard US Military stone for him and made application had their requests denied for both the Mexican War and Civil War for the reasons given. I love this kind of search, ie: proving service on a Civil War veteran. When the information is inconclusive, I err on the side that he served (in my own mind), absent any documentation. Bob
