Re: Allan Parmer / Susan James in Arkansas??

Richard,

If Parmer did, he didn't stay there very long after the war, because Donald Hale in "We Rode With Quantrill" on page 140 said in 1869 Allen Parmer married Susie James (Frank & Jesse's sister, Hale wrote) and "immediately" moved to Grayson County, TX in the cattle business (hopefully his own cattle!!). Then in 1873 they moved to Wichita Falls, toward the OK line in TX, and then moved to Alpine, TX (out west in the Pecos country) in 1920 where Allen died 25 October 1927. Donald cited "Dallas Morning News" 27 November 1927 and "Oak Grove Banner" of Jackson Co., MO on 4 November 1927 as his sources.

What you describe sounds like that lady outlaw whose real name was Shirley from Jasper County in SW MO--Belle Starr. I read she moved into NW AR with Mr. Starr during the outlaw period.
