Susan Lavina James was a school teacher and she was one of the founding members of the First Baptist Church in Witchita Falls, likely given her father's influence. He was a respected baptist minister and a founder of William Jewel University in Liberty MO pre-war.
The only link to Arkansas that I can find is Parmer spent time there between 1905 and 1920 working on railroad construction projects. Presumably his second wife may have been with him. I know little about her other than her name, Sarah Ogden.
I suspect that Dr Kindig is the Susan James Parmer expert as he wrote the book on her and her husband.
