This looks like the Anderson Carter of the 76th Enrolled Missouri Militia, Company I http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/soldiers/details.asp?id=S72320&conflict=Civil%20War&txtName=Carter,%20anderson&selConflict=Civil%20War&txtUnit=&rbBranch=#

He is the right age and this unit was from an adjacent county primarily. Also i found something about his estate being in the hands of the McDonald County public administrator in 1866. http://www.librarymail.org/genehist/sturgesbookv2_2.pdf page 11

Grave link is http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gr&GRid=82438437 says Edmonds Cemetery but doesn't show grave and gives only the year.
