Thank you for trying to help us. Fran sent me a pdf copy of that Sturges book as an attachment. I wondered how estates of Anderson & his dad (Jacob Carter who died in 1858) as well as a Francis A. Carter were all involved in 1866. The info on the findagrave site was from family lore & a book compiled about his ancestor, Abraham Carter ( Fran's DAR Patriot).

At least we can use his enrollment card to show that he died after Oct. 4, 1862 when he enrolled. Thanks,
