According to the November 1974 issue of Civil War Times Illustrated, this man's surname was THRUSTON, not THURSTON.

The brief article written about him in that magazine says that he was the tallest Confederate in the army, at seven feet seven and one half inches.

The article says he was in Co. I, 4th MO Cav, was wounded at Poison Springs, Arkansas by a bullet grazing the top of his head.

He surrendered at Shreveport, LA on June 7, 1865 and died in Mt. Vernon, Texas in 1909.
