Thanks for the info. The 1909 document that I found said he was an
active abolitionist. I believe that was common in the Stanton and Clark families.
Looks up Ard's cousin, Wes Clark for his 6th MI Cav and Andersonville adventures.

The document went on to say that he enlisted with five others, and that he was
the only one to live to return home.
This is my family. Several Stanton families made the move to Barry Co, MI from Wayne Co, PA, mine being the
last to come in 1856, and with no one of military age for the Civil War. Battle Creek was the closest city of any size.
Thanks to the board members for their fine efforts! I made a side trip to visit Shiloh a few years ago, and am glad I did.
