Thanks Thomas for that bit of information. I searched the LOC website that has data on small town newspapers and mention is made there as you also found. Probably what gets into the St. Louis papers trickles down to the rural area. I'll concentrate my search in that time frame. The account I mentioned in my ealier post was from Univ. of Missouri who suggested the monies be used for a soldier's museum/Library. Seems as though this money didn't get to the Enrolled Missouri Militia folks, if anyone in the Legislature even knew what that was in 1907. Ironically the division of monies to counties in Missouri resulted in many a rebel county (in the War) receiving money from the US Treasury but it probably was politically beneficial to some politicians.
