Re: Chalmers' Brigade at Shiloh

Alan and Ron this is very interesting reading. Thank you both. Ron I would very much like to read what Chalmers said about the 14th Iowa at Shiloh. Is it postable, or too long to post?

(Alan, Robert Clark of the 55th Illinois is not an ancestor or any relation, I think he died unmarried. I am trying to better document his death and grave however because at present his grave seems marked only by a name and not a unit. It is a common name, might as well be "John Doe". If we can better identify the real person of that name who died that day, and under what circumstances, perhaps we can more solidly give this soldier a true identity after almost 150 years. 'Yankee' or 'rebel' I think we owe as much to all of them, if we can do so, even if only one at a time.)
