In Response To: Terry Brothers, Attala County ()

Hello. I would be interested in the Terry brothers also.
My great great grandmother was Eliza Peace Terry who married Wm. Robinson Vaughn/Vaughan. They had ties back to Richmond, Virginia, but how I do not know. Someone told me once that my Terry connections went back to Rockingham, North Carolina, I believe it was.
Eliza and her sister had both married Vaughn brothers and moved on to Arkansas prior to the Civil War perhaps like around 1850 or about.
It is said that Wm. Robinson Vaughn had signed the Mississippi state constitution, I believe it was.
Eliza and her sister share a double headstone in Mt. Holly Cemetery in Little Rock, Arkansas that says something like "together in death as in life."
Wm Robinson Vaughn who refused to take the oath after the Civil War dying flat broke because of it. He would have been paid something for the cotton the Yankees took when Little Rock fell in 1863 if he would have signed the oath, but he said it cost him too much and he just could not do it.
He laid in an unmarked grave in Mt. Holly for at least 120 years before his great great grandchild, a lady from San Antonio, Texas found it. She then had it marked with a CSA marker and dedication with the full works. To be honest, we did not realize it was not marked and I was so thrilled to have the privilege to attend to the ceremony.
So anytime anyone says Terry or Vaughn, I am interested. If anything connects, please feel free to reply and inform me.
Thanks-
Linda
