William F. Ford 1st Lieutenant of Co. "K", 12th Tennessee (U.S.) Cavalry Regiment. Rolls state (1) that he was captured and killed near Lexington, Ala., Nov. 8, 1864. A statement that he deserted at Shoal Creek, Ala., Nov. 22, 1864, is crossed out. The next roll (2) states that Ford was captured and killed by the enemy, Nov. 12, 1864.
Ford was a resident of Adams County MS, and enlisted in Nashville, Tenn., Mar. 28, 1864. He initially was a non-commissioned officer and deserted during the summer. Apparently he returned to duty and was commissioned almost immediately afterwards.
