Re: Irish companies from Mississippi

Rob --

I've always been curious as to what would qualify a military company as being Irish. My job obliges me to get the particulars from people who want a report of employees of a certain kind. I have to ask, what makes a soldier Irish? Does he have to be born in Ireland, or have one or more parents who were born there? Does he need to have a last name that sounds Irish? How many soldiers does it take to qualify a company as Irish?

Two?
Ten?
Twenty?

What percentage of the membership must be Irish to qualify?

Ten?
Twenty?
Thirty?

Are we talking about the number of Irish members on roll when a company organized, or members who joined along the way?

What if there were more members from another nationality, like Scottish or English or French or German? Can it be an Irish-French or French-Irish company?

You see my dilemna. I need facts, Jack.
