Mr. Skellie: First I want to thank you for your help. William J. Lee (nicknamed Willie) was born abt. 1824 in Mississippi. He was married to Elizabeth D. (Smith or Smitts) who was born abt. 1828 in S. Carolina. The 1860 census showed their children to be: James 11 (my g-grandfather), Nancy 10, Rachael 8, Samuel 4 and Mary Ann 1 . that census showed them to live at Columbia in Marion Co., Mississippi. Per the 1870 census (dated July 15, 1870) William is not listed, and an old family record sheet I have shows he died before 1870. I do not know if he served for the Confederacy, but have a hunch that he did. I appreciate any info you have or can get. Thanks again, Lynn

P.S. I am not sure, but I think William's father may have been named Reuben who was born abt. 1798 in S. Carolina, but showed in the 1850 census to live in Marion Co.,Mississippi.
