Itawamba Cty soldiers at Shiloh

I'm searching for records of a Thomas William Smith from Itawamba County, MS who was wounded at Shiloh and subsequently died of his wounds. He was married to a Martha Tate Smith. He was around 30 years old at the time of Shiloh and was wounded around April 6 or 7. Because it is a Smith, it is very difficult to find and I have no way of knowing which regiment he was in. I do know when he died, he left a wife and six children. He could also be listed as Thomas W. Smith or just William Smith. I would appreciate any help anyone can shed on this that would help me find out more. He was my great, great grandfather.
