I pointed out to Parker Hills a couple of years ago that Myron Loop's published diary furnishes nearly irrefutable evidence that the 68th Ohio was not routed at the Battle of Raymond. Instead, they were pulled out of line before the fighting started and moved by the left flank to the extreme left of the line, where they sat unengaged for the duration of the battle.
So you can imagine my amusement when I noticed that Bearss' and Hills' new book included the story of the 68th Ohio skedaddling at first contact.
