Thanks, Mr. Purvis, I have a response to my question stating that A. Hampton Cochran was wounded, then died at Medical College Hospital, about 30 days later.
Evidently he didnt die on the battlefield. So, what likely happened to his remains? Did they attempt to send those hospital deceased back to families? i am trying to determined who in my history has the proper grave marker. An article on mississippiscv.org/Miss Units/17th Inf. reads that a Capt. Cochran was wounded. no further explanation. how can i find if this man was my kin? NJK
