Re: Bluett's Bridge location confirmed

My letters would fit perfectly in the timeline if the date on the one from James Jarrel were July 8 instead of June 8. Maybe he just wrote the wrong month at the top of the page. He was sick, so that could contribute to foggy thinking. In that letter, he drafts a letter-within-a-letter for his wife to send to Capt. Talbot and he dates that "July __, 1862" telling her to fill in the date and send it back with her next letter. If one were writing a letter in early June on an urgent matter to someone just 200 or so miles away, why would you assume no reply until "July ___?" This seems like the most parsimonious explanation. My uncle has another letter from him also written at Columbus. I will find out the date and contents of that. Any idea how long it took letters to get from Camp Bluett back to homes in Alabama? His parents were in Trammel Crossroads, so I'm guessing his wife was near there too. If it only took Harris 3 days by train, it seems like mail could get there in a week.
