Frank,

I see that Marshall Polk left General Polk's staff in February of 64 to command Port Marion, Alabama and then the Post of Aberdeen, Mississippi. Any idea why? At one time I heard he remained on the General's staff until Leonidas was killed at Pine Mountain, but that was in June of 64, four months later. Wondering if the strains of active duty were too much considering his Shiloh wound?

I have the copy of Marshall's letter to his wife dated July 12, 1864. Do any of the other letters make reference to Tupelo/Harrisburg?

I am also curious if you have identified Reynold's Battalion mentioned in the July 12 letter?

All the best,

Tom
