Francis M. Dickson

Mr. Huffman,
Francis M. Dickson of the 43rd Miss., Co. H. may be Francis Marion Dickson, son of Edley P. Dickson. Francis may have died in 1861. This family lived around Itawamba according to the 1860 US census. This family lost more than one member during the Civil War. Edley is thought to have died around Tupelo in 1862. His wife, Milly Holden Dickson, also died that year. Both were in their early 40s. Two other sons, Isaac Houston Dickson, born 1845, and David S. Dickson, born 1851, are not found after the 1860 census. The 1870 US census shows another son of Edley's taking care of about 5 of his younger brothers and sister. Would you have any records of any of the missing Dickson family? Possibly the P in Edley P. Dickson is for Powell since one of his surviving sons who was my direct ancestor was named Edley Powell Dickson.)
