Shirley: The Francis Dickson who joined the 22nd MS joined that unit in January 1863 in Brookhaven in Old Lawrence (now Lincoln [grrrrr!]) County, MS. He is listed as having deserted about a year later. While stranger things have happened, I wonder if Francis Dickson would have journeyed so far from NE MS to join this regiment. He could be yours, but I still wonder about his going so far to join up when so many regiments were active in NE MS at this time. -- Jim Huffman, 43rd MS
