E. D. Sanders - 41st Miss.?

My GG Grandfather, E. Daniel Sanders, was said to have died of wounds suffered during the war. I have not found him on any census, but he married Eliza L. Henry, 26 Jul 1853, in Pontotoc County. I find an E. D. Sanders in Company F, 41st Miss. Inf., a company raised in Pontotoc County. The last card in his record is for the period March-April 1863, where he is recorded as "Present". Can anyone conclusively confirm or deny that E. D. Sanders is E. Daniel Sanders? Two of my great-aunts, now deceased, stated that they were told by their mother that he had a store out from Memphis, and that while he was away in the army, fighting was so near to their place that Eliza took the children to Memphis for safety, and that when they returned, they found the store and their home looted, leaving them destitute.
