I believe he was admitted to only one hospital, complaint not stated. He remained absent for at least 4 months
before rejoining his command at Shelbyville, Tenn. sometime in March or April, 1863.
I would not believe he was wounded in action, most likely some disease. The regiment was engaged in the Battle of
Perryville, Ky. Oct. 8, some 4 days after he was admitted to the hospital.
He very well may have been a casualty at Chickamauga, October, 1863, or possibly captured at Lookout Mountain November 24, 1863
