Info I compiled on her Neal (June 2,1838-Nov. 1, 1924, buried Pleasant Hill Cemetery,Washington Parish, LA) & his brothers show that he enlisted with 3 brothers on July 7, 1861 at Camp Moore, was wounded and furloughed home. His brother, Lemuel was in Co. A under Col. Amacker and Capt. Slocum, was furloughed to die at home on March 17, 1864; Thomas died in CSA hospital in Jackson, MS; Solomon was in Capt. Hardy Richardson's 5th Co., 9th LA Reg. which became Co. I, 9th Reg., LA, was captured at Gettysburg & was exchanged; John may have been the private in Co. B , 14th LA Infantry who enlisted June 3, 1861 in New Orleans, LA, wounded, killed June 27, 1863 at age 28. Their dad was Mother's gg grandpa.
I assume the Col.Amacker was Louisiana's Col. Obadiah Pearson Amacker (1838-1910) who was first cousin of my dad's grandpa, Enoch Tate Amacker(1839-1888) who was a private in Coi. I, 38th MS Cavalry. Obadiah's brother, Richard Marshall Amacker(1837-past 1896), was a captain. Two of their brothers served. Samuel Jackson Amacker(b. 1835) died in Military Prison near Corinth, MS on June 3, 1862 after the Battle of Shiloh. Hezekiah Thompson Amacker (b. 1840) was killed in the Battle of Shiloh.
