A Byrne

Residence was not listed;
Enlisted as a Private
"I" Co. MS 22nd Infantry

also in Company I were:

John A. Byrne

&
Joseph Byrnes

.............................................

A. Byrne, age 35, Private, Capt. W. A. Percy's Company, Bonham's Regiment, Mississippi Vols.* enlisted June 20, 1861 at Greenville, Miss./July 27, 1861 at Iuka, Miss., recorded on April 30, 1862 as absent on sick furlough, recorded on August 31, 1862 as having been dropped from the rolls according to General Order 55

Note: I would suspect this GO pertained to the Conscription Act of April 16, 1862 requiring service of those up to age 35. He was probably released after serving his initial one years of obligated service

* This company was successively designated as Captain Percy's Company, Mississippi Volunteers, and as Captain Percy's Company, and Company I (Swamp Rangers), 22nd Regiment Mississippi Infantry

John A. Byrne, Private, Capt. William A. Percy's Company (Swamp Rangers), Mississippi Vols., mustered into service March 23, 1861 at Greenville by S. G. French, no further records
