I don't, that is what I am trying to find out. All of his brothers served, and I understand in 1862 and 1864 there were units formed by the state of MS. I am familiar with the Conerly book. There is a William May buried in China Grove Cemetery with service noted, however, research shows that this doesn't match Dr. Wm May. Our working theory is that yes indeed he is buried there, however, a well meaning group or individual had the grave marked incorrectly with another Wm May's service. As a doctor I would think he would have served in some capacity.
