My great granderfather is Jacob McPhail and my grandmother is Martha Dyess McPhail. They both were members of Ebenezer Baptist Church in what was part of Covington Co Ms at that time. She was married to Mack Ward who was killed at war and my census show Mack's son named McEwin. There is a Jacob McPhail Cemetery on Williamsburg Rd outside of Bassfield Ms. Jacob and Martha are buried as wells others. It has a section for McPhails, Wards and Dyess'. I do not know if Mack is buried there. I took pics when I visited it a couple of months ago. I will look through them to see if he's there. I do remember a Emma Ward buried there. A lot of the graves have crosses with no names. Martha has a very nice headstone. Hope this helps. Have you tried finding Mack's grave on FindAGrave.com?
