Oscar Smith, age 30, 1st Lieutenant, Capt. W. W. W. Wood's Company, Mississippi Volunteers, joined for duty and enrolled December 20, 1861 at Natchez Miss. for the war, promoted Captain April 12, 1862, reduced to 1st Lieutenant in consequence of Captain Wood's re-enlistment, promoted Captain August 5, 1863, wounded in battle before Atlanta, July 28, 1864, left in hands of the enemy, no further information

* This company was assigned to Blythe's Regiment Mississippi Infantry April 16, 1862, and became Company L of that regiment. It subsequently became Company L, 44th Regiment Mississippi Infantry
