My great grandfather's brother, one of the members of the 5th NC Infantry died in the Battle of Gaines Mill. My great grandmother had three brothers in the same company. Two died of disease before fighting any battles, and the third lost a leg and finished the war in the Reserves created for injured soldiers who wanted to continue fighting. This is the first time I have seen anything close to an account of that regiment, except when reading an account of the battle of Gaines Mill, so I would love to have any information anyone has.
