so far the extent of my success has been to receive my great great uncle's military record, and to have visited the Gaines Mill battlefield site, and the street where Winder Hospital Camp used to be. i can't tell you the feeling i got when i crossed the stream at the battleground, near the point where the yanks were driven back, and i do admit i cupped a handful of water and drank from that stream so that it would always be a part of me.
