Thanks so much for the information. The only record that I have seen was the very brief description online that I quoted to you. Where could I get copies of those cards?

James Garner was my great grandmother's brother, and my grandaddy used to tell the story of how he was at their house in Texas watching a baby while everyone else was in the fields when a man came up and told him to go get his mother. He ran to tell her, and when she asked what he looked like, he told her that he had an "old wooden thing" on his leg. She jumped a fence and went off running!

Dudley Durham was my great grandfather's much belooved older brother. Do you suppose there are records on him as well?
