My interest is on behalf of his great-grandson (currently age 88), who remembers meeting Mr. A. G. Bost sometime before his death in 1928.
The great-grandson remembers hearing a story of how his great-grandfather Bost was wounded in the leg while standing next to Robert E. Lee's horse. The bullet would have wounded the horse (Traveller?) had he not been in the way. Would there be a way to verify this story, at least enough to show that Mr. Bost's Company H could have been in the vicinity of Gen. Lee at the time of the injury?
In writing about this for his family tree, would it be more correct to say it was a bullet, or a Minie ball, or what?
Thank you very much!
Cheri
