Re: 8th Infantry Co H - Anthony G Bost

Cheri,

Did Anthony G. Bost live in Mt. Pleasant, or in the Cabarrus County area? We have a picture of a Confederate Soldiers' Reunion composed of members of Co. H, 8th NC. One of the men pictured is A. G. Bost.

One of our close friends is the Commander of the Capt. Jonas Cook Camp, Sons of Confederate Veterans in Mt. Pleasant. Jonas Cook was the Captain of Co. H, 8th NC. Our friend is also on the Board of the Mt. Pleasant Historical Museum, and there is a room in the museum dedicated to Co. H, 8th NC. He has a lot of information on this unit and may have information on Anthony Bost. If you would like his name and email, please send me your email address, and I'll pass it on to you.

I also just pulled out a book on Eastern Cabarrus Hisory, and there is a reprint of a lengthy newspaper article from 1934 "What War of the 60's Meant to Cabarrus Men - Record of Company H, 8th NC Regiment, Is Presented" - a sketch prepared by Capt. Jonas Cook. I see in the article where A. G. Bost was wounded May 16, 1864 at Drury's Bluff.
