Thanks JR for your reply. I found the James you mention is buried in Haywood Co.,NC.
The one I am searching is buried in Gaston Co.,NC. His tombstone
reads "Davies Co.7 Sr Reserves". He is buried in the "Potters Field"
and there are no dates so I have no idea when he died or how old he
was. I cannot find him on a census. Was hoping there may be a record
of his service to help me figure out who his family was as he doesn't
seem to fit in with anyone. His tombstone appears to be the only evidence
he ever existed and the war info was my last hope to find out. Thanks
