Colonel Dennis D. Ferebee lived in South Mills and commanded the NC militia at the battle of South Mills. Company G of the 4th was made up of men from Camden and Currituck counties. I teach in Camden and research the companies raised there. Currently I'm working to compile data on the Jonesboro Guards and North Carolina Defenders, independent companies raised in Camden that were captured at the battle of Hatteras 29 August 1861.
