Re: Capt. William T. Marsh, 4th N.C. Infantry

There is a monument to W. T. Marsh, in the yard of the Palmer Marsh House, Bath, NC, that gives a description of his early life and his service. Whether this is a grave marker or just a monument is unclear. Its position in the cemetery leads me to believe it is a monument only. Capt Marsh died 8 days after his wounding and may have been in Federal territory, though cared for by "friends" at the time of his death.
His brother, Edward Stanley Marsh is buried in Belhaven, NC, some 18 miles NNE of Bath.
