Brian...Thanks very much for your post. This circular is very concise and to point regarding regulations for acceptance into the Confederate army.

In your opinion, were these regulations for acceptance actually enforced. The reason for my asking is that my GG Grandfather enlisted into the 16th Battalion Georgia Cavalry at the age of 16.

Would he have been accepted if he were not mounted? Would he for example, have been accepted as a calvaryman if he had been riding a mule?

Another reason for my asking is the fact that there are many references to men purchasing and stealing horses for the use of the Confereracy. Were these horses used to mount soliders that owned no horse at the time of enlistment or were the horses used to remount troops who had lost their horses to the enemy?
