My ggg grandfather Barnett was in the 3rd Ala. Cav. He lost his horse in a fight at Shelbyville, Tenn. I have a vocher in his record for two hundred and seventy-five dollars full given him for the loss of the horse. He was detailed to Wiggins Battery after that and soon captured at Farmington, Tenn.

I have my GGG grandfather Upton's enlistment record that shows him enlisting into the 6th Miss. Cav. and his personal horse is valued at $400.00 and his tack at $40.00.
