Now that is strange, the Adairs in Oklahoma have been a polical power house for several years, they even have a county named after them, but they are Cherokee not Kiowa dog eaters, mmmm boiled puppy,,,, They really did like puppy but so did other tribes. They also felt it a compliment to the chef to belch as loudly as possible at the table after eating or during.Cherokees ate dogs too.

Indian Territory even had cannibals. One tribe, the root tribe of the Caddos, the Caddoan people as late as 1775 killed and ate captured prisoner girls of 8 to ten years old. The Tonkawa captured a Kiowa girl in 1868 and ate her, thus resulted the Indian upon Indian massacre of the Tonkawas. Some historians try to relate the massacre to the Tonkawas being friends of the Union soldiers and scouted and spyed on the other tribes. A member of the Caddos told me the cannabal story. The Tonkawas were attacked by the Caddos,Comanche, and Kiowa these three tribes formed an alliance as far back as the early 1700's.

The Kiowa and Caddos are indigenous to the area they are located, but the Comanche, related to the Shoshone migrated to the area in the 1500's from the Wind River Country. In fact the Texas Indians of East Texas and Louisiana are Caddoan.

Not that you asked but I thought you might be interested.
