Fish heads and rice was my Thanksgiving meal in 1951. I was attached to a command that was responsible for sweeping mines off Chinanpo, Korea. I asked the skipper for permission to guide the next Korean vessel through the mine field because I was becoming "Asiatic" from being aboard one vessel for several weeks.

Permission was granted for me to go aboard the Korean war ship. Lo and behold...their engine conked out about 1/2 day outside the port....I dined in their regular mess...Thanksgiving was fish heads and rice. Tasted fairly well once you got past the ordor...not very pleasant to hear the fish eyes popping if they happened to get between your molars.

Gained another experience. There were women aboard (wives of the crew). Their body ordor was very noticable. One did not have to make physical contact....the ocean breeze was sufficient to spread the aroma.
