Did you mean to tell me the CSA and Union armies had men who were listed as nurses, not asst. surgeons or something of that nature? I have never involved myself with much research in this area is why I ask.

I know from family research and research of the 7th Miss., men were detailed as a nurse. Is that what ya'll mean? I found that info listed in my uncle's CSR as "gun taken away, detailed as nurse." There is no mention of wounds sickenss etc. Also in the next card he re-appears as a rifleman.
