First you`ll have to find out if he was killed in service as teamster or if he was a part of the 26th TX Cav at the moment he died.

If he was in service with his unit when he was killed you have to dig up some correspondence from other members in the unit that might have written about it.

Since it states that he was "killed by accident" there has be something out of the normal when it occurred and someone had done it to him. If it had been stated "died by accident" it would indicate himself had something to do with it.

The statement indicate somewhat that "friendly fire" have been in the picture - as the case was with Stonewall Jackson.

The best bet is to try to locate letters from others in the unit, and try to get in contact with other descendants of men in the unit. If his death was out of the ordinary - I am sure others would have written about in a letter to their family or friends.
